The New Soccer Referee's journey begins at the Grassroots Level. While this is no longer a category (it is still listed on the USSoccer site as such!) Referees in this category are qualified to officiate recreational youth games, competitive youth games, recreational adult games and amateur adult matches. To obtain your license as a Grassroots Referee, there is a thorough process that involves online registration to the course, full-completion of the course's tasks, a background check, completion of the NFHSLearn Concussion Course, and you will need to attend the in-person training. Basically, it is a long journey until you receive your badge. But the good news is we at Ohio Soccer Refs are here to assist you in this journey should you have any questions or doubts regarding the process. If that is the case for you, simply send us a message through the contact form below and we will help you with it.
